
Jerome F. Thomas Issue Date: January 6, 2021 Jerome Francis Thomas, 79, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021 at the Care Center in Menominee, Mi.
Born Feb. 17, 1941 in Carney, Mi., to the late Steve and Mae (Ritter) Thomas, he graduated from Carney High School in 1959 and served in the United States Army. After service, he moved to Milwaukee where he worked a AT&T before retiring in 1998. He then returned to the U.P. and settled in Menominee.
An avid sports fan, he loved watching his son and grandchildren play every sport and was a huge Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan. He frequently attended their events, making many trips to Germantown area and other States to watch their games. Locally, he couldn't get enough of the Carney Nadeau Wolves boys/girls basketball games.
He enjoyed golfing with his friends at Green Acres and North Shore Golf Courses. He also was a handyman and enjoyed working around the house fixing things.
A great husband, father, friend and person, he had many friends that he enjoyed spending time with and he will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, the former Carole (Kuntze) of Daggett, Mi.; a son, Craig (Andrea) from Germantown; step-children, Dick Strauss, Milwaukee, Dan Strauss, Stephenson, Mi. and Sue (Mike) Wheeler, Green Bay; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert and a sister, Shirley.
Due to the COVID restrictions mandated by the State of Michigan, a private service was held at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson. Burial will be held later in Spring at Bethesda Cemetery, just West of Daggett. In lieu of flowers or cards, donations are appreciated to one's local Rescue Squad.
