Mary Adelaide (Albel) Dobija, 94, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at the Luther Home in Marinette.
Born Sept. 28, 1926 in Marinette, to the late Edward and Gertrude (Keller) Albel, she graduated from Marinette High School. She married Stanley Makara on Oct. 20, 1951 at St. Anthony's Church and he preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1971.
On Nov. 24, 1972, she married Alex Dobija at Resurrection Parish and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1986. A member of Resurrection Parish in Menominee, she was a homemaker and loved living on the island by the water.
Survivors include a sister, Patricia LaCanne of Menominee; a niece, Susan (Don) Shipman of Interlochen, Mi.; nephews, Larry (Marcia) LaCanne of Menominee and David (Denise) LaCanne of Hortonville; six great-nieces and great-nephews and nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Among her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Stanley Makara and Alex Dobija; a brother, James Albel; a brother-in-law, Floyd LaCanne and a niece, Connie LaCanne.
Private visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial was held at Resurrection Parish in Menominee, Mi. on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m., with Fr. Brian Gerber officiating, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. Anderson Kell Funeral Home of Menominee assisted the family. Online condolences can be made at www.andersonkell.com
