Crivitz Ski Cats Receive $10,300 Donation From Women's Group

Issue Date: January 13, 2022

On Dec. 29, the Crivitz Ski Cats accepted a $10,300 donation from the group,100 Women Giving Back Northwoods. This is the women's third donation since the group was formed in April of 2021. To date, the group has given $30,415 back to the community. The members meet four times a year, for one hour.  During the meeting, they nominate and vote on which local nonprofit will receive their collective donation. Each member then writes a check for $100 directly to the chosen charity. The concept is that simple, and is a great option for those who want to give back but cannot participate in a time consuming volunteer role. By working together the group can make monetary contributions that will have a huge impact in the community and will also bring awareness about the organizations they choose.

"Being part of this uplifting group of women, of all ages, we have come together and inspired many as we lead by example. Not only is the generosity of the 100 Women group rewarding to its members and recipients, it provides a ripple effect in our communities. We are making a difference," says member Annette Schmidt of Crivitz.

The group considers organizations that make an impact in the community and have a 501(c)3 nonprofit designation.

The Crivitz Ski Cats checked the boxes for the donation criteria. They have been active in Marinette County for nearly 60 years, bringing to the public, admission free, outdoor family entertainment on Lake Noquebay in Crivitz. In the process, the Ski Cats provide the opportunity for members to learn new skills while gaining confidence and working as a team. Many adult members have said over the years that their time with The Ski Cats has helped shape who they are with the lifelong relationships they formed on the team and lessons they have learned through the program.

As a nonprofit, they rely solely on volunteers, donations and fundraising to keep the team going.

They are always seeking new members. There is no skiing experience or age requirement to join.

Crivitz Ski Cats President John Ducane said, "We are proud of our involvement with the youth in our community. An amazing donation of this size makes it possible to provide our young members with high quality equipment that can be trusted on the water. Since our club involves members of all ages and skill levels, it is critically important that the Ski Cats are built on a foundation of safety and standards without compromise. Maintaining these standards requires a lot of experience, training and quality equipment which can be extremely expensive for a small non profit group".

To join The Crivitz Ski Cats, make a donation or to see a show, visit their facebook page (Crivitz Ski Cats Water Ski Show Team). Their 2022 Summer show schedule will be out this Spring.

To learn more about the 100 Women Giving Back group, or to become a member and join in contributing to local charities, visit their facebook page (100 Women Giving Back Northwoods) or email them at: 100womennorthwoods@gmail.com. Their next giving event will be in February of 2022. Guests are welcome to attend the meeting.
