Four Area Men Enter Eagle Scout Court of Honor Award

Four area young men from Peshtigo Boy Scout Troop 1054 were inducted in the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Saturday, Sept. 11 at Badger Park. The Eagle Scouts honored were Gabe Fugere, Griffin Knox, Nathan Krouth and Kolin Olsen.

The ceremony opened with a welcome by Keith Schroeder, Scoutmaster. He gave a brief history of the Eagle Scout Honor and what it means. Ignite the Spirit to Travel Through Peshtigo Sept. 20

A group of Chicago firefighters from Ignite the Spirit Fund will be stopping in Peshtigo Monday, Sept. 20 as part of their mission of Biking to Fight Cancer. They will be biking from Chicago over the course of six days and ride over the Mackinaw Bridge. Their 500 mile ride will begin on Sept. 18 and end on Sept. 23.

Ignite the Spirit is a Charity organization founded by Firefighters for Firefighters. To date Ignite has given out more than 1.6 million dollars to firefighters and police members in their time of need. The ride raises mone...

To Rebuild Cranberry Ave. Before The Snow Flies

Issue Date: September 16, 2021

At a brief special meeting on Monday, Sept. 13, Peshtigo City Council accepted a bid from PTS Contractors of Green Bay to reconstruct a portion of S. Cranberry Ave. from Maple to Birch Ave. at a price of $389,500. The work includes replacement of water and sewer lines, plus curb, gutter and new pavement, and the bid specifications stipulated that if the work is not completed this year the contractor will be assessed a $500 per day fine until the job is done.

County May Help Purchase Search And Rescue Airboat

Issue Date: September 16, 2021

If Marinette County Board agrees at its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 21, the county will be providing $43,900 to the City of Marinette Fire Department to help pay for a 2021 Search and Rescue Airboat from 1000 Islands Airboats. If approved, the money will come from the county's 2022 budget, and the rescue vessel will be available for use anywhere in the county.

Closed Meet On Wausaukee Contract For Rescue Squad

As promised at the August 16 meeting of Wausaukee Rescue Squad, Inc., Wausaukee Village Board convened a special closed session meeting to discuss the proposed 2022 contract offered by the private not-for-profit rescue squad to the four municipalities it serves, and invited the three other municipalities to send representatives.
