Mayor Cathi Malke Back To Work At Peshtigo City Hall

On Wednesday, Nov. 25, Peshtigo Mayor Cathi Malke will be back to her regular duties at Peshtigo City Hall. Malke will preside over the city's annual budget hearing at 11 a.m. and the special Council meeting that follows to adopt the 2021 budget and set the tax levy to support it. Tax rate is expected to be $4.99 per $1,000 of assessed value, almost exactly the same as last year. The proposed budget is up just 1.034 percent, from $2,594,148 for 2020 to $2,649,989 for 2021. Delay City Council Sewer Rate Hearing Until Thursday, Dec. 17

Issue Date: November 25, 2020

A public hearing on a proposed sewer rate increase for customers of the City of Peshtigo Water and Sewer Utility has been postponed until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, and will be immediately followed by the regular monthly meeting of Peshtigo City Council, at which approval is expected.

Elderly Services Faces Growing Need For Home Delivered Meals

Elderly Services Director Pam Mueller Johnson welcomed Mike Behnke of Peshtigo as the newest member of the Marinette County Committee on Aging when that group held its monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Northwoods Senior Cafe & Center on Hwy. 141 in Crivitz.

Crivitz School Board Grapples With Covid-19 School Rules

Concerns over issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic again occupied much of the discussion at the Crivitz School Board meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

During time for public comment at the start of the meeting, district resident Pete Pfankuch argued strongly against requiring athletes - particularly football players and wrestlers - to wear masks during practice and competition.
