Marinette County Breakfast on Mark Anderson Farm

The Marinette County Breakfast on the Farm will be held Sunday, June 28 hosted by the Mark and Connie Anderson family dairy farm, N6506 Anderson Rd., located west of Hwy. 180 and County G in Porterfield.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. The weatherman is optimistic with good weather called for.

Town of Wagner Marks 100th Anniversary Sat.

The Town of Wagner will celebrate its 100th year with a full day of events beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, and continuing into the evening. The town itself was born in 1915, when it split from the Town of Porterfield.

The story begins much, much earlier. In 1871, Joe Wagner and his wife, Susan, moved from Winona, Minn. to begin carving out their homestead from the vast forests of what is now the Town of Wagner. Marinette Accepts $500,000 From DNR For Dredging Costs

“The DNR stepped up to the plate and came up with another $500,000 - with no matching fund requirement - to cover unanticipated costs (of dredging in Menekaunee Harbor),” City Attorney Jonathan Sbar informed Marinette City Council at a special meeting Monday, June 22.

Council voted six to zero in favor of accepting the money after Sbar explained there was a negotiated settlement agreement to pay the contractor the extra $500,000 for unanticipated costs of dredging and disposing of the dredged materials.

Plan Commission Discuss Church in TIF District

The Peshtigo City Plan commission has asked City Attorney David Spangenberg to draft an amendment to the city’s zoning code to allow buildings for churches and other religious uses to be permitted in areas zoned B-3 Commercial. The Commission took the action at a meeting Wednesday, June 17, in response to a request from New Life Church to zone the current Harley-Davidson property to permit the congregation to use it as its worship and program center.
