Presidential Visit - M/b>President Donald Trump made an official visit to Marinette on Thursday, June 25 to recognize Fincantieri Marinette Marine and its workforce for the tremendous job they are doing building the Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) and to talk about the new $5.5 billion contract the shipyard received to build 10 new FFG-X guided missile frigates for the Navy. President Trump spoke for approximately a half hour about the program and a history of Marinette Marine. Trump is the first sitting president to visit Marinette County and the City of Marinette. Despite minimal advance publicity about exactly how or when President Donald Trump would arrive for his visit to Marinette Marine on Thursday, June 25, streets leading to the shipyard were lined with people hoping to get a glimpse of the historic first-ever visit of a sitting president to Marinette County and the City of Marinette.

A two year-old boy lost his life by drowning on Saturday, June 27, according to a news release issued by the Oconto County Sheriff's office on Monday, June 29. Identify of the child has not been released. The news release states that at approximately 7:34 p.m. on Saturday Oconto County Emergency Dispatch Center received a call of a missing two year old male child in a wooded area near the Oconto River in the Town of Stiles.

Crivitz Board Votes To Open Indoor Facilities

After more than an hour of hard and sometimes heated discussion at a special 5 p.m. meeting on Monday, June 29 Crivitz School Board, on a split five to two vote, agreed to open indoor Crivitz School facilities for use by students of the district on Monday, July 6.

2020 Marinette County Fair Aug. 27- 30 At Wausaukee

At a special meeting Tuesday, June 30, members of Marinette County Fair Board agreed this year's Fair at Wausaukee will run the traditional four days, starting on Thursday, Aug. 27 and ending on Sunday, Aug. 30. Earlier concerns about whether or not the show could go on due to the coronavirus restrictions have been cleared away, and all the essential pieces have been put into place.

Trish Schutte Named New Middle Inlet Clerk/Treasurer

Issue Date: June 24, 2020

Effective Wednesday, July 1, Virginia (Ginny) Hines will cease being clerk/treasurer for the Town of Middle Inlet and former Village of Pound Clerk/Treasurer Patricia (Trish) Schutte will take over that job, as well as the duties of town hall custodian. Salary for the part-time clerk/treasurer position is $1,500 per month. Pay for the custodian duties is contingent on town hall rentals.
