Voters to Fill City, Town, Village School Board Posts on April 7

Voters will be going to the polls on Tuesday, April 7 to fill positions in every municipality and school district in Wisconsin.

DOT Continues To Seek Safer Hwy. 41 Crossing

Wisconsinn Department of Transportation continues to look into ways to reduce the traffic hazard on Hwy. 41 at the Meadows Road intersection in the Town of Peshtigo near the Marinette city limits.

The project area extends from just west of Flame Road in the Town of Peshtigo to Cleveland Ave. in Marinette, and includes the County T/Roosevelt Road intersection. There have been several fatal accidents on the area in question in recent years.

Hwy. 141 Detour From Beaver To Wausaukee

Highway construction season in Marinette County is getting underway. Starting on Monday, April 6, traffic on Hwy. 141 going north beyond Crivitz will be detoured at the Beaver/ Pound exit via Hwy. 64 east to Hwy. 180 near Marinette and then north and west to rejoin Hwy. 141 at Wausaukee to allow construction of a culvert-bridge over Smith Creek just north of Crivitz near Noquebay Road.

To Collect DNA Samples at Arrest

Starting today, Wednesday, April 1, Wisconsin law enforcement will begin collecting DNA samples from violent felony arrestees and all persons convicted of a crime (both misdemeanor and felonies) as the new law takes effect. Currently Wisconsin requires only convicted felons and sex offenders to provide DNA. Wisconsin will become the 29th state to collect DNA at arrest.

A swab inside the cheek of people arrested for certain crimes may be all it takes to solve another crime.
