THREE INJURED: Three persons were injured in a crash between two semi trucks and a vehicle. Shown is the semi operated by Brian Scott Herrala, 48, Iron Mountain, Mich., which overturned after being struck by a car operated by Andrew R. Kunna, 26, Menasha. The overturned trailer blocked U.S. 141 north of Amberg and was struck by a northbound semi operated by Peter W. Johnson, Manitowoc.

3 Injured When Car, Two Semis Crash

Three persons were injured when a car operated by Andrew R. Kunna, 26, Menasha, crossed the center and struck a semi operated by Brian Scott Herrala, 48, Iron Mountain, Mich., causing it to overturn and block the highway. The wreckage was then struck by a semi operated by Peter W. Johnson, 48, Manitowoc.

The crash happened in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 17, on U.S. 141 and State Quarry Road, north of Amberg.

Menominee May Go To Court Over Airport Commission Appointment

Planes continue to fly in and out of Twin County Airport in Menominee but it appears management functions handled by Airport Commission will remain on hold until a dispute between Marinette and Menominee counties over seating of Garry Anderson as the third representative of Menominee County is settled.

Anderson, a former chair of the Airport Commission, was appointed by a 7 to 2 vote of Menominee County Board on June 2 to fill a vacancy created when Commission Chair Jason Lauzer resigned to accept employment in another state.

DNR: Wausaukee Water Supply “Precarious”; New Well Needed

Failure to heed the one-way street signs that are part of the detour system while the new Hwy. 141 bridge is under construction has been proving costly to motorists, Wausaukee Village President Hilbert “Slug” Radtke warned at the start of the Village Board meeting on Monday, July 21. Radtke said the Wisconsin State Patrol has been enforcing regulations in the village, and traveling the wrong way on a detour street resulted in $176 fines for each of seven drivers on a recent day.

Peshtigo Utility Changes Water Disconnection Policies

City of Peshtigo residents at risk of having their water service disconnected for non-payment of bills will receive a 24 hour notice before the disconnection, according to an ordinance change considered by the Water and Sewer Committee at a meeting on Monday, July 21. 

The change is intended to encourage individuals to pay their delinquent accounts before disconnection.  Disconnections and reconnections of water service take a great deal of time by water service employees, and Utility Operations Director George Cowell wants to minimize...

Christmas At Badger Park, Peshtigo July 25-27

Christmas is coming! Santa will visit Badger Park in Peshtigo as part of the campground’s increasingly popular annual “Christmas in July” event this weekend, July 25, 26 and 27.

Parks and Recreation Director David Zahn told the committee the campground will be nearly full for the event, and 14 of the sites are reserved by campers who are coming specifically for the event.
