Arbor Village, Community Based Facility Now Open In Peshtigo

Arbor Village, new community based residential facility in Peshtigo is now open and accepting new residents according to owners Nancy and Chuck Kufura. The facility is located behind Badger Park and is licensed for 50 beds. It will feature many extras that will enhance the independence and quality of life for residents.

The couple purchased the property 4 years ago and completely remodeled the building. Chuck stated, when they purchased the property, the building had been neglected by the previous owners and needed a complete remodel. ...

County Looks At Abolishing Position of Elected Coroner

Marinette County is once again looking at the possibility of abolishing the elected county coroner's position in favor of hiring a medical examiner, or contracting with another county for medical examiner services.

At the suggestion of County Administrator John LeFebvre the issue came up for discussion at meetings of the Personnel Committee on Thursday, Feb. 8 and the Law Enforcement Committee on Monday, Feb. 12, and is scheduled for discussion by the full County Board when it meets on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Neumann Retiring After 32 Years As Track Coach

Peshtigo School District's search for a new superintendent is progressing. Long-time Superintendent Kim Eparvier will retire at the end of the current school year. After completing regular business at its monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 12, the board met in closed session with representatives of CESA-8, which is assisting with the superintendent search. They reviewed applications and scheduled interviews with the selected candidates for Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 20 and 21.

Dept. Of Public Works Lists Equipment Needs

The City of Peshtigo Streets and Drainage Committee meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8 focused on a priority list of Capital outlay equipment for Department of Public Works. A prioritized list of budget estimates, ages and condition of equipment was provided to the committee. The DPW top priority is to replace the 28 year old dump truck that has a plow and wing. The plow breaks regularly, the frame is starting to separate and it doesn't have a scraper. A new truck with scraper, plow and wing is estimated to cost between $170,000 and $185,000.

Voters To Choose Candidates For Supreme Court On Feb. 20

The only statewide race on the primary election ballot Tuesday, Feb. 20 is for Wisconsin Supreme Court. Contenders are Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Rebecca Dallet, Sauk County Circuit Judge Michael Screnock and Madison attorney Tim Burns. The only local races are for a position on Peshtigo School Board and the District 27 Supervisor position on Oconto County Board.
