Peshtigo 12-Year Olds Bring Home Four Titles During Tournament Run

The Peshtigo 12-U all-star baseball team completed a very successful season, winning 4 of 7 tournaments and finishing with a 26-4 record.

Tourney play started in Wausaukee with a second place finish in June, losing to Iron Mountain in the championship game 2 to 1.

Heading to Stevens Point, Peshtigo won the team title beating Plover 14-1 in the championship game. The bats were hot as Tanner Marquardt hit his first home run of year, Nick Nielson finished with 5 home runs, three coming in one game and Cameron Noffke also clea...

Third Annual Leo Schneider Challenge Run Set For Sept. 13

The third annual Don Schneider Memorial Challenge Run will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, and is part of the college’s SNC Day activities. 

    The 5k course will begin and end on campus, looping south on Lost Dauphin Road. It is loosely based on the “Tough Mudder” obstacle-course races designed by British Special Forces, but will not be extreme.  

    Registration is $15, and runners will receive a commemorative long sleeve T-shirt. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division.

Menominee Opens With Win Before Faltering; Ends Season at 16-19

After opening with a 5-2 win over Hancock in American Legion Zone 5 play Thursday in Marquette, the Menominee Red Wave suffered a pair of losses and were booted off the post-season trail. Menominee was upended by Ishpeming 8-6 in round two before suffering a 4-3 loss to Escanaba Friday.

Zone champion Gladstone along with Escanaba and Marquette qualified for the Michigan state tournament in Gladwin.

Area Players, Coaches On Legion Star Squad

A total of 7 players from four area American Legion teams have been selected to play in the Fox River Valley Senior all-star game on Saturday, August 9 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton.

Area diamond standouts selected to the 26-player American Conference team include Derek Klegin and Nathan Kallestad of Marinette, Riley Hegg and Ryan Woods from Menominee, Oconto’s Blake Campshure, along with Bo Shroyer and Hunter Magnin of Oconto Falls.

Big Crowd Expected For Trappers Convention And Outdoor Show July 24-27

The largest trapping and outdoor show ever to come to Escanaba or the Upper Peninsula begins on Thursday July 24 and ends at noon on July 27. This 4 day event will be happening July 24-27 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 PM EST and Sunday from 8am-noon. Admission is $10 for all four days with kids under 12 admitted free.
