The family and friends of Robert W. Pomrenke, 78, of Menominee called at Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee on Monday, May 16 from 2 p.m. until time of the memorial services at 4 p.m.
Rev. Craig Monsur officiated. Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home assisted the family. He passed away on Wednesday, May 11 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.
The son of the late Walter and Vivian (Crotsenberg) Pomrenke was born on Dec. 16, 1932 in Madison. He graduated from Madison High School and then UW-Madison with a bachelor degree. He served four years in the United States Navy.
He married Carol Kuran on July 10, 1993 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee. He worked as a supervisor at Menominee Paper, retiring in May of 1996. A member of Bethel Lutheran Church, he was active in the choir and attended Bible studies. He enjoyed camping, bowling and golfing.
His wife, Carol survives, along with two daughters, Sharon (Dick) Mead of Foster City, Mi. and Lori Forton of Pewaukee; a son, Gary Pomrenke of Waldorf, Md.; three stepdaughters, Kelly Kuran of Madison, Kolleen (Eric Bakkum of Middleton and Keri (Andrew Shehan of Madison; two stepsons, Kevin (Robin) Kuran of Seattle, Wash. and Kory (Tomomi) Kuran of Osaka, Japan; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and special friends, Paul and Maxine Drees, Al and Holly Wieting, Pat Madsen and Jerry Haapala.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti; a sister, Mary Schroeder and a brother, Dave Pomrenke.
