Editor:

Since he was elected to represent our Congressional District, I’ve been waiting for Reid Ribble to do something FOR the people of Wisconsin. I’m still waiting.

Reid Ribble has voted to cut Medicare benefits for millions of Americans. This generation of Americans has played by the rules. These are our grandparents, our parents, our aunts and uncles. They have worked, served, raised families, and paid taxes. They’ve done the right thing. They deserve the basic health care that Medicare provides. They’ve earned it.

Our congressman has voted to cut benefits and raise expenses for the elderly. What will our congressman and the republicans do with the money saved cutting Medicare benefits and eliminating Social Security? They’ll give tax breaks to the wealthy and big business interests. The people of Wisconsin deserve better.

Maybe it’s time to send Reid Ribble back to his business as a roofing contractor. Maybe he’s good at  that. He’s not good for the people of Wisconsin.

Maybe it’s time we chose someone who understands and cares about the people our state, the real people. It is obvious Reid Ribble does not.

Sincerely,

Michael Kettu,

Marinette

Letter to Editor

My daughter headed off for college last fall and as we were going through all her things, there hanging in the closet was her graduation cap and gown from Peshtigo High School. Now what the heck are we going to do with that??

I’m a very frugal person and and very earth friendly so to “waste” the money for something worn for 3 hours did not sit well with me. Does Goodwill really want all these gowns from every school? Are people just throwing them in the garbage?

My suggestion is that all the schools start a swap program in their own school for the upcoming grads to either pay a small price for a barely used gown, or get one for free (I’m giving ours away, what else do I want it for?). We are not teaching our kids good values already in this disposable world,  so what is telling them once again?

The Catholic schools hold uniform swaps and it’s going very well. It’s time to hold graduation gown swaps. Ask your schools to consider this option and keep asking them about it until it’s done, there is NO reason not to.  Senior year is very expensive already so this is one thing we could save our money on.

Carrie Warren-Wandke,

Peshtigo

Editor:

We are so fortunate to have such a generous community to help support our 30th auction at St. Thomas Aquinas Academy. Our little Catholic school stays strong because of your continuous support.

We are so thankful for your small and large donations, time and energy, and coming to the event and becoming part of the tradition.

Sincerely,

Eric & Tammy Bulin,

Auction Chairs
