Coleman Students Advance To State Music Competition Coleman High School and Middle School music students performed at the annual M&O Conference Solo/Ensemble Music Festival held at Lena High School on Saturday March 31st. Students from Grade 6 through Grade 12 performed for a critique or graded rating before state-sanctioned judges in both vocal and instrumental events. Coleman students competed along with many musicians from the other M&O Conference schools.
Coleman students who received a starred-first rating in Class A and eligible for state competition are Mackenzie Meyer/flute solo; Megan Graetz/flute solo; Jessica Kust/clarinet solo; Mackenzie Meyer, Jessica Kust/flute-clarinet duet; Jessica Kust/piano solo; Jacob Woulf/piano solo; Ashly Rymer, McKenzie Meyer, Mackenzie Meyer, Megan Graetz/woodwind quartet; Kymberly Bergevain, Megan Graetz, Jessica Kust, McKenzie Meyer/mixed instrumental quartet.
Students who received a first place rating in Class A were: Sarah Naegeli, Jessica Kust/mixed instrumental duet; Jonathon Salewski, Garrett Kostrova, Alex Scray, McKenzie Meyer, Megan Graetz, Mollie Graetz/mixed instrumental sextet; Mitchell Woulf, Jacob Woulf/piano duet; McKenzie Meyer/clarinet solo; Kymberly Bergevain/also sax solo; Mitchell Woulf/piano solo
Students who earned a second place in Class A included Jessica Kust, Sara Naegeli/vocal duet; Matthew Osterburg/vocal solo and receiving a third place in Class A was Beth Hallada/vocal solo.
Those who received a first place rating in Class B were Martina Kostreva, Nikita Barbeau/vocal duet; Sara Moss, Mackenzie Meyer/vocal duet; Kim Nelson/vocal solo; McKaela Risner, Miranda Rost/vocal duet and a second place in Class B included Brett Salesky, Jacob Woulf/sax duet; Mckenzie Kostreva/piano solo; Jonathan Salewski/vocal solo; Kim Boyer/vocal solo; Brittany Rogge, Stacee Janssen/vocal duet; Cassandra Vasquez, Jenna Coutley, Allicia Nosgovitz, Kaitlin Wittock/vocal quartet. A third place rating went to Roberta Payette, Roxanne Block/vocal duet.
Coleman students who earned a first placein Class C were: Kelsey Payne/flute solo; Kelsey Payne, Ashley Lepinski/flute duet; Tessa Torreano/clarinet solo; Gunnar Patz/alto sax solo; Jherney Van Drisse, Sammy Marquardt/flute duet; Nathan Woulf/piano solo; Kelsey Payne, Amy Naegeli, Roberta Payette/vocal trio; Sara Kust, Autumn Meeks/vocal duet; Kendra Rosenthal/vocal solo
Additional students receiving a first place in Class C were: the Coleman Junior High Flute Ensemble (Sammy Marquardt, Jherney Van Drisse, Kelsey Payne, Ashley Lepinski, Olivia Kobus, Sara Kust, Kinlee Prestine); the Coleman Junior High School Clarinet Ensemble (Morgan Graetz, Anna Risner, Samantha Giese, Mariana Meissner, Tessa Torreano, Matthew Kostreva); the Coleman Junior High Brass Ensemble (Jody Styczynski, Devon Gilles, Amy Naegeli, Morgan Vanden Heuvel, Joshua McDonald, Allison Brazeau, Jackson Crandall, Colton Houska, Tyler Salesky, Donovan Salewski, Khanon Sotka-Gilbertson, Austin Tachick, Katie Krueger); the Coleman Junior High Saxophone Ensemble (Nathon Yoap, Jennifer Bucksa, Richard Zimmerlee, Taylor Funkhouser, Auston Myers, Gunnar Patz, Mallory Olcott, Mariah Seefeldt); the Coleman Junior High Percussion Ensemble (Amber Nasgovitz, Madisen Kobus, Mckenzie Kostreva, Derek McMullen, Jason Meyer, Devin Schulte, Jessica Swenty, Nathan Woulf).
A second place in Class C went to Samantha Giese, Tessa Torreano/clarinet duet; Mariana Meissner/clarinet solo; Matthew Kostreva/piano solo; Christina Peterson, Michael Rowell/vocal duet; Courtney Lake, Amanda Lake, Samantha Christiansen/vocal trio; Marianna Meissner/vocal solo; Ashlee Mayer/vocal solo; Sara Kust/vocal solo; Mitchell Bushmaker, Austin Seefeldt/vocal duet; Jenna Steeno, Kelsey Payne/vocal duet; and a third place to AshLee Nelson/vocal solo; Jonathan Salewski, Britny Patz/vocal duet; Dezeraie McMullen, Ashley Jashinsky/vocal duet; Derick Teatick, Nathan Hanrahan/vocal duet.
Students with 'critique only' ratings were: Kersten Gibson, Madisyn Harley, Abigail Marquardt, Kelsi Olinger, Sarah Seefeldt, Jennifer Styczynski, Autumn Washuleski, Megan Wierzba/flute-clarinet ensemble; Clara Yoap, Annabelle Kotecki, Amalia Faudoa/sax trio; Alexa Gruber, Anna Dohl/trumpet duet; Crystal Sotka, Cheyenne LeBoef/vocal duet.
The Coleman vocal music instructor is Kathy Bader and Jim Heyroth is instrumental music teacher.
