Six TIMESland Golf Teams Earn Sectional Tee Times

A total of six TIMESland golf teams claimed top 4 places at the regionals to advance to the WIAA sectional links.

The first 2 teams and the top 3 individuals, who are not members of qualifying team in each sectional, advance to the state meet June 4-5 at University Ridge in Madison.

In the Division 2 tourney at Little River Country Club, Marinette fired a 334 to finish runner-up behind Notre Dame (302) while Peshtigo came in fourth place at 354.

The D-2 sectional will be played at Fox Valley Golf Course in Freedom on Tuesday, May 29 with a 9am tee-off.

A pair of D-3 regionals enabled four area teams to keep their seasons alive as Coleman carded a second place score of 363 and STAA third place 367 at Golden Sands in Cecil to move on.

At Nicolet Country Club in Laona, Niagara finished second with a 350 and Pembine fourth (366) to advance.

The Division 3 sectional will be held at Pine Valley Golf Course in Marathon on May 29 with a 9am start.

Marinette, Peshtigo

Finish 2nd And 4th

Competing on their home course at Little River, Marinette and Peshtigo stayed alive with top 4 finishes.

Notre Dame won the 9-team meet with a 302 followed by Marinette 334, Mosinee 340 and Peshtigo 354.

The Marines were sparked by Brad Thielen with a 77 (37-40), Andy Swanson 82 (42-40), Mitch Francois 83 (46-37) and Tyler Philipps 92 (48-44).

Peshtigo scores included Mitchell Behnke 76, the third best round of the day (37-39). Marcus Behnke added 90 (44-46), Nick Miles 91 (47-44) and Jordan VanBeek 97 (50-47).

Oconto Falls finished 7th and was lead by individual qualifier Jason Hoffman 78 (41-37) and Tom Gokey 92.

Champion Notre Dame posted the top two scores on the day in Jim Liddy 71 (35-36) and Ben Wagner 75 (35-40).

The best shot of the meet was registered by Sam Ohnesorge of Mosinee, who used a gap wedge to ace the 115-yard, 8th hole.

Five Teams Gain

Berths In D-3 Meet

Coleman and STAA registered a second and third place finish at the Bonduel Regional.

Gibraltar/Washington Island won with a 343 followed by Coleman 363, STAA 367, Sevastopol 376, Bonduel 380, Gillett 389, Menominee Indian 420, Oconto 451, Lena 460 and Suring 466.

Gillett senior Tyler Raatz was medalist with a round of 78 (39-39).

Coleman scores included Steve Kilmer 80 (39-41), Dan Pillath 90, Richard Geimer 96 and Alex Tisler 97.

Lexi Wilson carded a 90 for STAA (43-47), Mike Schmidt 90 (46-44), Casey Boyle 92 (45-47) and Anthony Carlson 95 (51-45).

Following Raatz for Gillett were Alex Wetzel 102, Zak Peterson 103 and Kelsey Hischke 106.

Oconto was lead by Connor Ault 106, Lena by Blaik Fischer 109 and Suring, Anthony Jazwiecki 99.

Taking part in the Crandon Regional, Niagara and Pembine punched their tickets for the sectional.

Host Crandon won with a 346 followed by Niagara 350, Laona 359, Pembine 366, Wausaukee 377, Wabeno 385, Three Lakes 398, Florence 419 and Elcho 460.

Niagara was paced by a runner-up score of 78 from TJ Liebergen (40-38), Zach Zychowski 90 (42-48), Colin Anderson and Alex Kadulski 91.

Anthony Schiefelbein and Jason Retulowski carded 90’s for Pembine, Zac Szprejda 92 and Hunter Keely 94.

Wausaukee saw individual qualifier Wyatt Tilkens shoot 87 (46-41), Brandon Wesolowski 90, Logan Gruszynski 96 and Brice Sturmer 104.

Jacob Dobesh totaled 101 to lead Crivitz.

Medalist was Eric Rosio of Laona with a 73 (37-36)

STAA Captures Top

Honors At Invitational

With 4 golfers registering scores from 87-89, STAA took home top honors in their 6-team home invitational Friday at Riverside Golf Course.

STAA (1) totaled a score of 353 followed by Bonduel 383, Lena 419, STAA (2) 435, Crivitz 496 and Oconto (na).

Landon Maccoux, a late addition to the team, posted an 87, Mike Schmidt 88, Lexi Wilson and Nathan Faucett 89’s.

Medalist on the day was Tyler Kurowski of Bonduel with an 84 (41-43).

Lena was led by Broc Bitters with a 94 while Matt Kachell shot 103 for Crivitz.
