One Record Shattered At Peshtigo Junior Olympics

The 36th annual Peshtigo Elementary School Junior Olympics was held on Wednesday, May 23 with over 260 students competing in running and field events.

The festivities began with the recognition of two individuals retiring, Terri Gaedke and Vicki Mylener.

The day featured the setting of a new record as sixth grader Isaac Woller eclipsed a two-year old mark in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:04.22, besting the effort of Tyler Nault (1:05.67).

Event winners in the 50 meter run for girls were 4th grade Laurel Aleson 8.83, 5th McKenna Carvenough 8.34 and 6th Lexi Debriyn 8.53; boys Tanner Marquardt 8.77, Damon Jones 8.12 and Ben Call 7.62.

The 75 meter winners for girls were Laurel Aleson 13.28, Sydney Stalheim 12.75 and Jasmine Granius 13.34; boys Jacob Raminger 13.44, Mitchell Vanvooren 11.78 and Ben Call 11.72.

Winners at 100 meters Grace Meyers 14.18,Alisha Jessel 18.81 and Brittany Collins 16.11; boys Jarod Jandt 16.38, Max Rauch 15.25 and Ben Call 15.07.

The 200 meters to Brenna Schoenebeck 34.55, Julia Gordon 36.33 and Kailyn Wiegman 31.97; boys Jacob Gordon 35.94, Nathan Goneau 30.93 and Isaac Woller 29.60.

The 400 meters to Carissa McBride 1:39.88, Julia Gordon 1:21.72 and Kailyn Wiegman 1:14.34; boys Cyle Michalski 1:27.40, Reid Marquardt 1:15.06 and Isaac Woller 1:04.22.

Fifth grade 800 winner was Alana Rivard 3:05.16 and 6th Ashley Sobacinski 3:07.66; boys Brandon Stachewicz 3:05.69, Reid Marquardt 2:59.85 and Gavin Forsberg 3:08.59.

The 1600 meter winner for 5th grade Alana Rivard 6:49.72; boys Justin Potkay 7:22. Alex Dolata 6:15.48 and Tyler Lund 6;45.

Winners in the 60 meter hurdles were Nicole Vandervest 12.12 for 5th grade, McKenna Carvenough 11.32 and Lexi Debriyn 11.57; boys Cade Tachmeir 12.29, Mitchell Vanvooren 10.99 and Drew Koenigs 13.06.

The 400 relay co-ed winners in 4th grade with a time of 1:07.18 were Jerod Jandt, Brandon Stachewicz, Gabby Blohowiak and McKenna Evancheck; 5th grade 1:04.16 Trent Carriveau, Max Rauch, Sydney Gullickson and Viola Smith; 6th grade 1:03.59 Riley Reif, Zack Wauters, Lexi Debriyn and Shae Tonn.

Second place in the 400 relay (4th grade 1:07.61) Matt Jornlin, Cyle Michalski, Brenna Schoenebeck and Nicole Vandervest; 5th Jared Potkay, Max Sonneberg, Gabby Perry and McKenna Carvenough; 6th 1:05.15 Trevor Bloch, Nathan Vandervest, Hannah Ellie and Brianna McBride.

The 800 relay winners in 5th grade at 2:41.40 were Aiolah Bohaczek, Brandon Bick, Alisha Jessel and Hailey Carlson; 6th grade 2:18.32 Zack Wauters, Dustin LaPlant, Courtney Christensen and Breanna Meeks. Second place in 6th grade 2:28.35 to Brock Bero, Nathan Vandervest, Katrina Salmen and Caroline Swanson.

First place for 4th grade in the girls 1600 relay 6:25.24 to Gabby Blohowiak, Nadia Jashinsky, McKenna Evancheck and Abi Reiswitz; 5th grace 5:53.66 Julia Gordon, Alana Rivard, Courtney Kodric and Viola Smith; 6th grade 5:26.40 Bethany Kmecheck, Katrina Salmen, Madison Martin and Kailyn Wiegman.

Second place for the 1600 relay in 5th grade 6:06 to Lana Schwittay, Sidney Gullickson, Gabby Perry and Madi Corey; 6th grade 5:28.72 McKenna Berth, Hannah Swanson, Abbie Lindbom and Ashley Sobacinski.

Boys winners in the 1600 relay for 4th grade 5:39.87 were Cade Tackmeir, Nick Nielson, Devyn Wauters and Jack Collins; 5th grade 6:01.61 Mitchell Vanvooren, Nathan Goneau, Trent Carriveau and Billy Ganter. Second place for 5th grade 5:12.09 to Alex Dolata, Nolan Lemke, Damon Jones and Nick Barrett; third place 5:24 Travis Plym, Reid Marquardt, Cameron Noffke and Joe Sodini.

Frisbee throw winners for girls 4th grade Emma Piechota 77’2, Selina Emmes 62’5 and Alexis Waschbisch 64’4; boys Scott Younk 74’6, Darren Dionne 75’3 and Jarrett Dubrock 101’11.

Softball throw girls 4th grade Grace Meyers 82’9, 5th Haddie Enderby 83’6 and 6th Breanna Meeks 131’6; boys Nick Nielson 149’4, Nathan Goneau 153 and Dakota Heckel 154’2.

Standing broad jump 4th grade Nicole Vandervest 5’8.5, Montanna Roggendorf 6’2.5 and Caydence Cogswell 5’10; boys Ben Nowotny 5’7, Hunter Paris 6’11 and AJ Corey 6’6.5.

Rubberball throw (13-inch) 4th grade Madalyn Gromoski 15’5; 5th Michaela Laack 37 and 6th Emma Frederickson 53’4; boys Brody Heroux 55’7, Joe Sodini 58’3 and Gavin Brissette 70’1.

High jump girls 4th grade Rachel Chaney 3-feet, 5th Montanna Roggendorf 3’6 and Madi Martin 3’10; boys Nick Nielson 4’2, Joe Sodini 3’10 and Dustin LaPlant 3’8.

Running long jump girls Brenna Schoenebeck 10’1, Brooke Lemke 9’ and Shae Tonn 9’10; boys Jerod Jandt 9’10, Max Rauch 13’5 and Trevor Bloch 11’9.
