Marinette Co. Breakfast on Farm at Nowaks June 24

The annual Marinette County Breakfast on the Farm will be held Sunday, June 24 from 7:30 a.m. until noon, rain or shine, at the Ed and Julie Nowak Farm, W8977 W. 26th Rd., Crivitz.

The host Nowaks hope to attract 2400 people this year. There will be a petting zoo, face painting, balloons, kids bouncy play area, visit to barns and see cattle, wagon ride, kids tractor pull, a baby animal area and live Polka band. Cost is $6 for adults, and children 6 to 10 years are $4. There will be free refills for food and refreshments. All cooking and food areas are under tents.

They are also offering wagon, antique tractors, and horse drawn wagon rides from the parking lot to the food lines. A map of the farm will be available so guests can browse.

The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausages, cheese curds, maple syrup, applesauce, milk, juice, coffee and ice cream sundaes.

Ed is a 3rd generation owner of the Nowak farm where he was born raised. He and his wife of 30 years, the former Julie Baker, farmed together with his parents, Edward and Marilyn Nowak. In 1981 they started milking 30 cows and today they have 80 cows and 40 heifers and own 280 acres. Their son, Michael works on the farm and a daughter, Emily also assists when she is home.

In 2005 Nowak Construction put up a new calf barn and concrete cow yard and a 48x48 workshop was built in 2008.

Father Walter Stumpf and Deacon Jerome Thetreau, who is Ed’s cousin, will celebrate a 7 a.m. Mass at the farm on the morning of the breakfast.

Purchased so far in preparation for the breakfast are 800 pounds of sausage and porkie links, 1200 pounds eggs, 300 pounds cheese curds, 125 gallons ice cream, 360 gallons of milk, 75 gallons orange juice, 15 cases pancake mix, 125 pounds shredded cheese, 50 pounds butter and 2 pallets of water.
