County Auctions 26 Tax Deed Properties For $293,675

Sale of 26 tax delinquent properties at an auction conducted Friday, June 8 by Forest and Lands Administrator John Scott brought a total of $293,675 into Marinette County coffers, which was $190,675 over their minimum appraised value of $188,875.

The auction, which played to a packed house in the Marinette County Board Room at the courthouse, offered a total of 35 properties. Nine of the properties, including some with the highest minimum bid price tags, did not sell and will most likely be put back on the block at the next auction of properties the county acquired for non-payment of taxes. The properties that did sell brought in prices that more than doubled their combined minimum price.

A 1.2 acre wooded lot in Amberg, minimum $1,500, was purchased by Pearl Barker for $2,900.

A 9.53 acre parcel including an old camp in poor condition at N14104 Wontor Road, Amberg, minimum $15,000, sold to William Holmes for $22,000.

A 4.64 acre parcel including a manufactured home in poor condition at N11363 Deer Lake Road in Athelstane, sold to Randi Zelten for the minimum bid price of $20,000.

A 1.48 acre parcel at W8293 County P in the Town of Beaver had a minimum price of $3,000, but after some active bidding was sold to Jason Zeitler for $13,500.

A 1.98 acre lot, mostly cleared, with well and electric, at W8204 Beecher Lake Road in the Town of Beecher carried a minimum price of $5,000, but sold to Roger Kupsh for $6,600.

A wooded strip 75’ by 1,390 feet, on Ferndale Road in the Town of Lake was priced at $1,000 and sold to Don Denowski for $3,000.

Two bidders wrangling over a .61 acre wooded parcel off Provencher Road in the Town of Niagara, 25’ by 1,080’, with no access, brought the price from $600 to $1,050. Kathy Beauchamp was the successful bidder.

In the Town of Pembine, a 2.34 acre wooded lot with approximately 90 feet of frontage on Cotas Lake Marsh, had a minimum of $4,000, but sold for $5,000 to Don Lasee.

Stephen Schlitt paid the minimum bid price of $50 for a little .17-acre triangle of land adjacent to the railroad tracks in Pembine.

A 1.15 acre wooded low lot on the south side of Heights Lane in Porterfield had a minimum of $1,000, and sold to Bradley Tabbert for $2,500.

A 38.28 acre mostly lowland property on the extension of Belgium Road in the Town of Pound, was sold to Claude Wilcox for $40,000, $5,000 more than the minimum price of $35,000, while a 38.86 parcel across the road, with a minimum price of $60,000, was won by Kerr with the high bid of $105,000. That property, which brought by far the highest price of the day, was described as being a mix of hardwoods, openings and lowland.

Also in the Town of Pound, a 1.21 parcel at W7137 County B, complete with well and electric, sold to Steven Kasal for $19,000, well over the minimum price of $2,000.

Two connected parcels in the Town of Stephenson and Village of Crivitz were sold for their respective minimum bid prices. They were a .56 acre lot at 1407 Main Street in the village and an adjoining sliver, .08 of an acre, in the town, went to to Dennis Pelkin for $2,000 and $100 respectively.

A small narrow strip, half a mile long and totaling 2 acres, at the extension of Airport Road in the Town of Stephenson, was sold to Patricia Shy for the minimum price of $1,000. There were no other bidders.

A 6.05 acre parcel in the Town of Wausaukee, partially wooded and with a good building site and frontage on a small stream, was sold to Marshal Giese for $6,500, just $500 over the $6,000 minimum bid.
