Timberjacks Overpower Outlaws 56-6, Sit At 3-1
Unleashing a 433 yard offensive outburst, the M&M Timberjacks improved their season record to 3-1 with a dominating 56-6 road win over the Outagamie Outlaws Saturday.
Coach Joe Plautz saw his troops rush for 179 yards and 3 scores while the passing attack added 179 yards and 3 teedees.
Im pleased with the way that were playing right now. I think we all know that our best football needs to still be ahead of us though. We have some areas to clean up yet...havent have a game that weve turned the ball over less than twice, Plautz commented.
The Timberjacks scored 28 points in the first half then put the game with 28 more in the third quarter to win going away.
Jerid Staidl got the T-jacks on the board with a 5 yard first quarter romp and Scott Merzlicker booted the first 6 extra points for a 7-0 lead.
After the Outlaws closed within 7-6 on a 57 yard pass from Alex Whitney to Houston Szukalski, the Timberjacks closed out the half with a trio of teedees and a 28-6 edge.
Randy Hoheneder rambled 4 yards and Matt LaCanne 10 for a 21-6 lead. Adam Schmit closed out the first half scoring with a 25 yard scoring toss to Devin Gray.
In the third quarter LaCanne hauled in a pair of 41 yard scoring passes for a 42-6 cushion. The first score saw Hoheneder fire a pass to LaCanne while Schmit added the second teedee.
Staidl capped the scoring with teedee bursts of 4 and 10 yards.
Hoheneder was the top rushers with 6 carries for 71 yards, Schmit 14-69, Staidl 9-51 and LaCanne 2-42.
Through the air, Schmit connected on 7 of 10 throws for 138 yards and 2 scores while Hoheneder hit on his only toss for a touchdown. The sure handed LaCanne snagged 3 receptions for 90 yards, Joel Wortner 3-51, Gray 1-25 and Robert Forgette 1-13.
On the defensive side of the ball, LaCanne registered 6 tackles (4 solos) and forced a fumble, Eric Krautkramer 5 tackles and a fumble recovery, Brian Oudenhoven 5 tackles while Kyle Adams had 4 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles.
