
M-O Netters Post Opening WinsIssue Date: October 18, 2012 Regional Semifinals On Thursday
The opening round of the WIAA volleyball tournament went according to script as the M-O Conference registered 5 wins and 4 losses.
Among the victors were league powers Coleman and Peshtigo, which finished one-two in the final standings.
Coleman swept Tri-County while Peshtigo was forced to play five games before turning back upset-minded Crandon.
Results from Division 3 saw number two seed Wausaukee cruise past White Lake while Niagara and Suring came up with tournament wins.
Regional semifinal action will be held on Thursday, October 18 with the finals on Saturday, October 20.
Sectional play is slated for October 25 and 27 with the state tournament November 1-3 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

Marinette Ousted
By Notre Dame
Traveling to number two seed Green Bay Notre Dame, Marinette didnt put up much of a fight in falling 25-6, 25-18 and 25-10.
Olivia Alloy topped the Marines with 5 kills, Melissa Huempfner 7 assists and Hayley Honeychurch 5 digs.
We struggled with our ball handling and that kept us on defense all night. I think the girls showed at times that they can compete with a top team and that is something we can build on for next year, coach John Swick said.
Oconto Falls
Beats Omro
With McKenna Larsen dishing out 13 assists and collecting 11 kills, Oconto Falls (34-10) topped Omro 25-4, 25-16 and 25-19.
Sara Reis added 9 aces for the winners.

Coleman Cleans Up
On Tri-County In 3
Back to full strength for the tournament, Coleman knocked off Tri-County 25-15, 25-15 and 25-13.
After sitting out a couple of games with a concussion, junior Makenzie Sadowski put together a big return performance with 6 aces, 5 blocks and 10 kills.
Abby Bieber tallied 15 digs and 7 kills while Lindsey Kerr registered 31 assists.
Bulldogs Pushed To
Limit In 5 Game Win
Hosting Crandon of the Northern Lakes Conference, the Peshtigo Bulldogs came up short in the opener 22-25 before getting back on track with victories over the next two games 25-22 and 25-14.
Crandon regrouped in the fourth game 18-25 to set up a winner take all clash. Peshtigo built up a 12-8 edge and held on for the 15-11 victory.
Roller coaster of a match. We lacked communication and missed too many serves. But, the girls dug deep and pulled this one out, Peshtigo coach Lynn Kostreva said.
Shannen Ganter had a monster game for Peshtigo with 17 kills and 28 digs, Taylor Romenesko added 11 kills, 2 aces and 31 digs; Hannah Romenesko 10 kills and 32 digs; Nicole Motkowski 7 kills, 21 assists, 15 digs and 3 aces; Allie Morris 22 assists and 5 digs; Carly Dietrich 6 kills and 6 digs; Abbi Frederickson 3 spikes, 3 blocks and 6 digs; Jen Harris 6 digs and Maizie Reif 3 digs.
Top Seed Oconto
Registers Sweep
The Oconto Blue Devils, champions of the Packerland Conference, stormed past Menominee Indian Tuesday 25-8, 25-6 and 25-12.
Selena Clark collected 23 service points and Hannah Miller 22 assists for the winners.

Too Much For Lakers
Getting awarded the number two seed in D-3, the Rangers had no trouble with visiting White Lake Tuesday 25-16, 25-6 and 25-9.
Sara Wickman sparked the dominance at the net with 4 aces and 6 spike kills, Lauren Edlbeck 5 spikes and an ace, Stevie Oldenburg 4 spikes, Charlene Fick 2 aces and 2 assists, Crysta Clark 4 aces and 3 spikes, Kaylor DeLaet 10 assists and Rachel Gretza 3 aces.
Hannah Schulz tallied 3 aces and 3 assists for White Lake, Lexie Kealeu 2 aces and 2 kills while Julie Boie added a pair of kills.
Niagara Knocks
Off Gresham
With Maryellen Wagener collecting 27 kills and 17 digs, Niagara swept visiting Gresham 25-11, 25-9 and 25-14.
Wageners kill total included 20 spikes, 2 tips and 5 blocks to go along with a 100% serving mark.
Kaitlyn Lundin added 11 kills, Shanna Nordell 5 kills and 9 digs, Abbey Bagnieschi 6 digs and 26 assists, Paige Lindlbauer 15 digs, Danielle Bennett 2 digs and 6 assists while Melinda MacDonald tallied 2 tip kills and one dig.
Joining Wagener with 100% serves were Bennett, Borchardt, Nordell and Lindlbauer.

Goodman Gals
Calley VanBellinger registered 7 kills, 3 aces and 5 digs as Suring took care of visiting Goodman 25-12, 25-18, 21-25 and 26-24.
Brooke Gauthier added 4 kills and 13 digs, Stormy Gerndt 9 kills and 2 digs, Kelsey School 9 assists and 13 digs, Erin Fisher 3 kills and 9 digs, Breanna Tienor 2 aces, 7 assists and 4 digs.

In a close battle with number 7 seed Laona, the Lena Wildcats came out on the short end of a 25-20, 25-22 and 25-14 tourney opening loss.
Elizabeth Salter collected 7 kills and 11 assists for Lena, Jenna Henrichs 11 kills, Holly Blazek 6 kills and 7 assists, Vanessa Hanrahan 5 kills, Kayla VanLanen 8 spike kills and 4 digs, Melissa Bushmaker 7 kills and 3 aces, Megan Rouer 10 digs.
Cavalettes Fall To
Top Seed Wabeno
Going up against number one seed Wabeno, the STAA Cavalettes fell 25-7, 25-7 and 25-12.
Molly Linczeski collected 3 kills and 6 digs for STAA, Kristin Sorensen 2 spikes and 3 digs, Linsey Hannon 7 digs, Lilly Duffrin 4 digs and 3 assists while Allysa Hornick added 2 digs, spike and an ace.
