THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
POTENTIAL DANGER: The southbound curve leading to the new City of Peshtigo bridge is considered to be dangerous for a vehicle taking the curve too fast and could end up in the Peshtigo River. Mayor Al Krizenesky has requested the Department of Transportation (DOT) to erect a guard rail or barrier to prevent any vehicle from crashing into the river. Currently, the DOT is hesitant about an estimated $100,000 expenditure. As a result, the Mayor is also contacting area state legislators to advise them of the problem and seeking their help for a barricade. Before the new bridge was installed, there was a barrier, a pole directing traffic to the City of Marinette or to Pine St. which had been struck by several vehicles taking the curve too fast. Shown are the curve and open waters of the river.
