Nygren, Mursau Win Re-Election
John Nygren (R-Marinette) was re-elected to another two year term to represent Assembly District 89 and Jeff Mursau (R-Crivitz) was re-elected to another two year term to represent Assembly District 36.
Nygren defeated Joe Reinhard (D-Abrams) by about 60 percent to 40 percent of the votes cast. The District is comprised of the southern portion of Marinette County and Oconto and Brown counties. In Marinette County, Nygren received 5,830 votes to 4,192 for Reinhard.
Mursau won over challenger Dorothy Kegley (D) Crandon. In Marinette County, Mursau received 6,114 votes to 3,348 for Kegley. The District is comprised of the northern portion of Marinette County and counties of Oconto, Forest, Langlade and Menominee.
In the race for State Senator District 30, the incumbent Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay) was re-elected over challenger John Macco (R-Green Bay). Early voting gave Hansen about 26,500 votes and Macco about 24,000. In Marinette County vote totals were Hansen 5,786 and Macco 4,474. The district is comprised of the southern portion of Marinette County, Oconto County and a portion of Brown County.
In the District 12 State Senate race, Tom Tiffany (R-Hazelhurst) defeated Susan Sommer (D-Phelps). In Marinette County, Tiffany received 5,286 votes to 3,797 for Sommer. The district includes the northern portion of Marinette County, Forest and Langlade. Both were seeking an open seat as the incumbent did not seek re-election.
