Janet VandenLangenberg Janet VandenLangenberg, 84, of Kelly Lake, Suring, formerly of Green Bay, passed away Friday, Nov. 16.
She was born July 10, 1928 in Humboldt to the late Wenzel and Irene (Leurquin) Jaklin. She attended Washington Jr. High and Green Bay East High School. She married Howard VandenLangenberg on June 21, 1947 at St. Philip Church in Green Bay and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
During World War II she worked at Awning and Tent, making tents for the soldiers. She was a mother and homemaker and was a member of St. Mary of the Angels. She was the president of the Bellevue VFW 9677 Ladies Auxiliary and as head cook, helped organize many dinners at the VFW. She served on the Ladies Auxiliary at Oconto Falls Community Hospital and was an active volunteer there. She sang in the choir at St. Wenceslaus Church in Klondike, was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and organized senior citizen dinners for many years. She was currently a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Suring. She was a lifetime member of the Kelly Lake Sportsman's Club and a member of the Mulligan Crew. Her special interests were bowling, cooking, playing cards, fishing, traveling and above all caring for her husband, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Howard; a son, Randall of Suring; five daughters, triplets, Teri Francois of Green Bay and Mary (Michael) Rasmussen of Townsend and Karen (Francis) Karchinski of Pulaski, Vicki (Robert) Wetli of Baldwin and Toni (Jeffrey) Kubiak of Shawnee, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Joanne Linssen of Denmark; sisters and brothers in-law, Pearl VandenLangenberg, Eloise VanderKelen, Betty VandenLangenberg, Lorraine VandenLangenberg, Jane Jaklin, Eunice Jaklin, Arlene Jaklin, Barb VandenLangenberg, Raphael and Ida VandenLangenberg, Ronnie and Jeannie VandenLangenberg and Arnie and Bernice Rentmeester and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clayton Jaklin, Merlin Jaklin, Harley Jaklin, Al Jaklin and Merlin Linssen; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Ray and Rosella Lamal, Lorraine and Orland Nick, Lloyd VandenLangenberg, Marv VandenLangenberg, Kenny VandenLangenberg, Harvey VandenLangenberg and Bill VanderKelen; a son-in-law, Alan Francois; a grandson, James Karchinski and a great-grandson, Charles Julius James Howard.
Family and friends called at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, Green Bay on Monday, Nov. 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Suring from 9:30 until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Dean Dombroski officiated and burial was in the Klondike Cemetery.
