Snow Storm Alan Missed The Area
Issue Date: December 12, 2012
Snow Storm Alan was a few inches short of predictions 5-6 inches in the area. Peshtigo had 3 to 4 inches of snow, Lena about 4-inches, Niagara about 3-inches and the Village of Coleman had abou 8-inches
While the snow made highways and roads slippery, it did not stop Packer fans from attending the game on Sunday. The Green Bay area had about 3-4 inches of snow and the tail-gate parties went on as usual.
On Monday, Dec. 10, some area schools in Marinette County started about two hours late. This was mainly because some rural road had not been completely plowed and roads were slippery.
Monday also saw the sun come out for several hours and helped the salt and chemical on roads melt the ice quicker. Temperatures rose to about 31 degrees.
Quit weather is expected for the rest of the week. Next chance for snow is Saturday, Dec. 15, which could be a mix of rain because of warmer weather. Temper-atures are expected to be in the lower 20s to over 30 degrees and could reach 40 by Friday.
The western part of the state saw Alan drop about five to six inches of snow, which had been predicted.
