Lady Bucs Finish First Semester 8-2

The UW-Marinette Lady Bucs closed out the first semester with an impressive 8-2 record following victories over Richland 56-52 Friday and Washington 64-44 Saturday.
Coach Jeff Sunstroms cagers will take the holidays off before returning to the courts on Wednesday, January 9 with a home clash against Marathon at 6pm.
Lady Bucs Slip
The inside tandem of Nicole Garbrecht and Lindsey Krajewski combined for 27 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Lady Bucs to a hard earned 56-52 win over Richland Center Friday.
The Bucs owned a 26-21 halftime edge before hanging on over the final 20 minutes.
Garbrecht fired in 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Krajewski 12 points and Kelsey Waloway 8, including two free throws with 12 ticks left to ice the win.
Marinette made 23 of 55 shots (42%) while Richland added 20-72 shooting (28%).

64-44 Bucs Win
Racing to a 40-19 halftime edge, the Bucs had no trouble with visiting Washington Saturday afternoon 64-44.
Garbrecht continued her dominance in the paint with 20 points and 10 rebounds to finish out her career at the Marinette campus. Paige Barstow and Krajewski added 9 points each while Waloway chipped in with 7.
This was Nicoles last game with us. She is transferring to Stevens Point for the second semester and plans on playing softball in the spring and volleyball next fall, coach Sunstrom said.
