THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Richard Dick Bero, 78, of Houston, Tex. passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16 at The Martha's at the Sunset Pines Assisted Living Home, after a long fought battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.
Born on Aug. 7, 1934 in Menominee to the late Raymond and Mildred (LaCourt) Bero, he was a United States Navy Veteran and had retired from the Unisys Corporation. In retirement he was a voracious reader and was a volunteer with the Marine ROTC and Boy Scouts.
Surviving are a sister, Beverly A. Johnson; a brother, Dale Bero; two stepdaughters, Rae Ann Emanuel and Lindsey (Jerry) Lampp; a stepson, Edward Emanuel; five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of longtime friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Prior) Bero.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Kell Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. with a vigil service at 4:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Chenier officiating. Friends may gather at the church just prior to Mass. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
