Robert W. Rumm, 85, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette.
Born on Dec. 29, 1928 to Emily and Henry Rumm of Milwaukee, at age eight he began learning the jewelry trade from his grandfather, Henry Zwengel, of Zwengel Fine Jewelry of Milwaukee. He married the former Gladys Preuss and the couple celebrated 38 years of marriage.
He served in the United States Air Force as a flight crew-member for the Commander of Central Air Force Defense, General George Achisson. After returning to Milwaukee he operated his own jewelry manufacturing business. His working career also included Vice President of Auros Manufacturing, machine design and manufacturing in the Wausau area, as well as Paper Converting Machine Co. of Green Bay, from where he retired in 1984. He and his wife, Gladys enjoyed traveling in their motor-home before making their home in Peshtigo in 1994. She preceded him in death in 2001. He enjoyed his family and friends, the Brewers, the Packers and good conversation over a cold beer.
He is survived by three stepchildren, Scott (Iris) Durrant of Ringle, Sandra Mizorek of Buckeye, Ariz. and Ilona Johnston of Phoenix, Ariz. and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gladys.
Per his wishes, a private service was held at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral home in Manawa with burial and military honors at Union Cemetery in Symco. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bay Area Medical Center and the Cancer Research Center.
