THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Joseph Stanukinas, 92, of Menominee passed away early on Monday, Feb. 18 at Menominee Care Center.
Born in East Chicago, Ind. on Nov. 27, 1920, son of the late John and Anna (Paswinski) Stanukinas, he was drafted in October of 1942 and served during World War II. During his service in the Army he received two purple hearts. He was Past Commander of the American Legion, a member of the pistol team and also was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his siblings, Benedict, Margaret, Rose and Elaine and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A service will be held at a later date. Messar-Roubal Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Wausaukee is assisting the family.
