George W. Schmidt
Visitation will be held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Kuhn officiating, for George W. Schmidt, 70, of Mountain. He passed away on Monday, Feb. 25.
Born in Mount Greenwood, Ill. on Oct. 10, 1942, he was the son of the late Christ and Shirley (Murten) Schmidt.
He owned and operated Quality Carpet and Sleep Shop in Mountain and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, sitting around a bonfire and his dog. He wintered in Florida and enjoyed life to the fullest.
He is survived by a daughter, Sabrina (Harry) Swanson of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; a son, Christopher (Janet) Schmidt of Rhinelander; a sister, Suellen (Jim) ONeil of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
