Mary Katherine Johnson, 91, of Menominee passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, March 2.
Born in Ingallston, Mi. on Nov. 12, 1921 to the late George and Gertrude (Murray) Grabowsky, she graduated from Menominee High School Class of 1939.
She married Carl Lester Johnson and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1973. A member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Birch Creek, she was known for her Irish wit, laughter and warm personality. She loved family gatherings, caring for her grandchildren and passing down family lore. Coming from a pioneer Ingallston fishing family, she loved the bay shore and never wanted to live anywhere else.
She is survived by three daughters, Noreen Johnson, Sandra (Fred) Gignac and Barbara (Joe) Paradis; two sons, Michael (Barb) Johnson and Carl (Joy) Johnson; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, June Ebbole; a sister-in-law, Edyth Sager and many other family members and friends.
Along with her parents and her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Jean, Jane, Madlyn and Frances and two brothers, John and Murray.
Friends may call at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Thursday, March 7 from 4 p.m. until the time of prayers at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Birch Creek. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Fr. Corey Litzner will preside and burial will be in the Cedar River Cemetery.
