Mary L. Ries, 85, of Lena, formerly of Wallace, Mi. passed away Saturday, March 2 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette with her family by her side.
The former Mary Lucille Lesjack was born on Sept. 18, 1927 in Menominee to the late John and Mary Agnes (Nerat) Lesjack. On Jan. 17, 1948 she married Rienhart Ries in Menominee and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2001.
She worked as a laborer at Ansul for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, reading, doing crossword puzzles and gardening, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and the Green Bay Packers. She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Wallace, Mi.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Robert) Peterson of Lena; two sons, Rienhart J. (Karen) of Green Bay and Dan (Judy) of Menominee; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Along with her parents and her husband, Rienhart, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth and Agnes and five brothers, Anton, John, Frank, William and Johnny.
Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, Mi. on Tuesday, March 5 after 3 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 5:30 p.m. Pastor Cori Johnson officiated and burial was in Mellen Township Cemetery.
