Irene Patricia Olson
Irene Patricia Olson, 90, died Sunday, March 10. Born in Menominee, Mich. on July 22, 1922 to the late John and Gladys Fitzgerald, after moving to Green Bay she graduated from East High School in 1939. On Dec. 1, 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Noel F. Olson. They celebrated 55 years together during which they raised five children. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2000.
She was a crossing guard at the corner of Fisk and Ninth, belonged to Lady Trainmen, Arts Unlimited for which her 3D decoupage pictures are well known throughout Wisconsin and the UP, Brown County Women 's Golf League, and the Ladies Guild at Nativity Catholic Church. She was an avid Packer fan from the age of 13, attending games well into her 80 's and proud of being able to say she lived to see the Packers win four Superbowls.
She and her husband loved watching and identifying birds that came to the feeder at their cottage in Channing, Mich., and going on Pontoon rides on Noel 's Ark. Of all of her accomplishments, she was most proud of her family.
Survivors include a son, Peter (Nancy) Olson; daughters, Sue Fostner, Mary Beth (Jim) Deviley, Katie (Doug) Page; five grandchildren; a sister, Mary Miller; brothers, Jack (Debbie) Fitzgerald and Frank Fitzgerald; sister-in-law, Dorothy Olson; daughter-in-law, Diane Olson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel, a son, Johnny; sister-in-law, Arleen Fitzgerald; brother, Rockne Fitzgerald; brothers-in-law, Jack Olson and Bill Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn (June) Erdmann; nephew, David Erdmann and special son-in-law, Steve Fostner.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 15 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Ashwaubenon, from 9 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am with Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Interment will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
