The family of Ruth Mae Belongia, 97, of Oconto received relatives and friends on Monday, March 24 at First Presbyterian Church, Oconto from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Craig Alwin officiated. Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto served the family. She passed away Thursday, March 21 at San Louis Manor in Green Bay.
Born March 13, 1916 in Oconto to the late Holger and Hattie (Blank) Petersen, she married Isaac Belongia on Feb. 18, 1939. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1945.
She enjoyed baking cakes and cookies for family and friends. A member of First Presbyterian Church in Oconto and the Guild Circle, she was proud of the chicken pie she made for church dinners.
Surviving are two sons, Jack (Patricia) Belongia of Suamico and Robert (Sue) Belongia of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Petersen of Appleton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two godchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
