Paul R. Ponfil
Paul Ponfil, 83, of Cedarburg, formerly of Crivitz, passed away Tuesday evening, March 19 at his home.
Born Oct. 2, 1929 in Crivitz, the son of the late Anton and Mary Porfilio Ponfil, after high school he served in the United States Army.
On Aug. 29, 1953, he was united in marriage with Jean Lohff in Crivitz. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2001. A founder and partner of R & R Excavating and Bulldozing, he was in business for 55 years. Some of R & Rs contributions to Ozaukee County include Rotary Park, MATC, Concordia, along with many subdivisions and roadways. He was dedicated to his career and passionate about the work he did. When he wasnt working, he enjoyed hunting and trout fishing.
He is survived by his children, Scott (Jean) of Grafton and Melissa (Roger) Bardo of Manitowoc; two grandchildren; sisters, Helen Franzen, Louise Sprouse and Donna Martens, all of Crivitz, Aggie Witak of Peshtigo and Vi Dart of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Lynda Ponfil of Port Washington; special friends, Bill and Jane Frederick of Oak Creek and nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean and a brother, Ronald Ponfil.
The family received visitors at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg from 9:30 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22. He was laid to rest with military honors at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg. Memorials are suggested to Cedarburg Davita Dialysis.
