The family of Mabel A. (Routheau) Helmer of Oconto received relatives and friends at Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral services at noon on Friday, April 5.
Rev. Gerhardt Miller officiated. Donations are suggested to Oconto Humane Society as well as other local organizations. She passed away Wednesday, April 3 at Woodlands of Oconto, one day short of her 96th birthday.
Born in the Town of Little River to the late John and Louise (Cota) DeHut on April 4, 1917, she married Clair Routheau on Dec. 19, 1936. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1964. She later married John Helmer on Feb. 19, 1977 and he died on Oct. 24, 2002.
She worked at several jobs over the years to support her children, but was most happy spending time with her family and showing off her flowers and garden. She also enjoyed fishing whenever she had the chance and shopping trips and flea markets.
Surviving are two sons, Rodney Routheau and Clark (Julie) Routheau; two daughters, Karen (Jim) Konop and Penny (Roger) Aubut; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Mraz of Oconto and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Besides her parents and her husbands, Clair and John, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Lyle, George, Harry, Ray, Roy and Donald and five sisters, Irene Ragen, Muriel Olson, Ruby Lasley, Louise Scharmann and Mary Sief.
