THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Leo LeRoy Spitzer, 86, of Menominee passed away on Tuesday, April 2 at the Luther Home Marinette.
Born March 25, 1927 in Greenwoods, Mi. to the late Leo and Mary (Moker) Spitzer, he married Maureen Simon on April 26, 1947.
He worked for Giddings & Lewis for many years as a foreman until retiring in 1983. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Menominee, The Trapper Association and the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman and trapper.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maureen; a daughter, Phyllis (Steve) LeBoeuf of Menominee; a son, Jeffrey (Ann) Spitzer of Indianland, S.C.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 9 at 1 a.m. with Rev. Paul Cole officiating at Christ Lutheran Church, Menominee with a gathering time from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial was in Birch Creek Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
