Carol J. Gearhart
Carol Jean Gearhart, 71, of Carney, Mi. passed away on Thursday, April 11 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, surrounded by her family.
The former Carol Skrobiak was born on Feb. 1, 1942 in Escanaba, Mi. to the late Mike and Veronica (Holochwost) Skrobiak. She grew up in Bark River, Mi. and graduated from Holy Name High School in 1959.
On Aug. 15, 1980 she married Lyle Gearhart in Menominee and worked at Gilbert and Bennett until she retired in 1998. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent her summers golfing, camping and sitting around the campfire. Her winters she crocheted, read and loved to play games on Facebook with her many friends. She enjoyed her monthly trips to the casino to have lunch with her relatives.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle; six children, Jolene (Mark) Strauss of Hermansville, Mi., Brian (Geraldine) Murray of Nadeau, Mi., Christine (Nubs Strom) Hansen of Franksville, Cathalene (John Boyd) Lenca of Hermansville, Mi., Jacquelene Sjoholm of Richmond, Ky. and Pauline (Rick) Leaveck of Stephenson, Mi.; a sister, Linda (David) Walker of Wallace, Mi.; two brothers, Joseph (Kathy) Skrobiak of Daggett, Mi. and Leonard (Donna) Skrobiak of Bark River, Mi.; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, David Joseph Belongia, jr. and Ryan William Strauss.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Thursday, April 18 after 2 p.m. with a memorial service at 5 p.m. with Deacon Mike LeBeau officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Carney Nadeau American Legion. Burial will be in Nadeau Township Cemetery.
