Jeanette M. Peterson
Issue Date: April 18, 2013
Jeanette Marie Peterson, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, surrounded by her family at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, from the last stages of a rare auto-immune liver disease (PBC) which she had lived with for 25 years.
Born on April 19, 1938 in Marinette to Edward and Alvina Rynning of Menominee, she graduated from Menominee High School in 1956.
She worked for a brief time at the former Scott Paper Company, now Kimberly-Clark Corporation, and it was there she met her late husband, Owen Roger Peterson. The couple was married on Feb. 6, 1960 and had three children. They grew to love the warmth and sunshine of Florida and spent the last 19 years splitting their time between St. Petersburg and summers in Menominee. In St. Petersburg, she left behind many dear friends at Melody Gardens.
She used her God-given gifts faithfully at North Shore Church in Menominee and graced the worship sanctuary for years with her beautiful floral creations for Sunday services. She loved to decorate and make any environment more beautiful. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker and was the primary caregiver for her son, mother and mother-in-law during their difficult years. She was an encourager and known for her extensive letter writing, via the old-fashioned pen/paper/U.S. mail, in her beautiful cursive writing form. She was empathic, joyful, patient, kind, gentle, generous and rooted in her faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Wendy Kay (Gwen) Kurtz (Peter) of Menominee and Cheryl Lynn Buelteman (Roger) of Green Bay; one granddaughter; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. She is further survived by brothers, Robert Rynning (Dolores) of Marinette and Ross Rynning of Menominee and nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Owen, on Jan. 12, 2013; a son, Roger Edward on April 10, 1974 from muscular dystrophy and a sister-in-law, Ruth Rynning.
A private memorial service celebrating both the couples lives will be held at their burial site in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee on Aug. 10, 2013. Condolences can be sent to 1528 7th St., Menominee, MI 49858.
