Kenneth E. Richards, 75, Porterfield resident passed away Friday, April 19 unexpectedly in his granddaughters arms.
Born June 12, 1937 in Marinette to the late Leo and Alice (Larson) Richards, he graduated from Marinette High School and served in the Army National Guard 32nd Division.
He married Audrey Gerbyshak on Oct. 27, 1962 at St. Joseph Church in Walsh, due to a fire at St. Marys Catholic Church in Crivitz, and their wedding reception was the last in the old Crivitz Town Hall before it was torn down. He wore many different hats throughout his life to include working at the Loomis Cheese Factory, Wausaukee Boat Factory, Kargard, and retiring from Ansul. He then became the founder of the ICE BURG Ice Cream Shop in Crivitz. The couple celebrated 50 years together this past October 2012.
He was a member of the Crivitz Knights of Columbus and St. Marys Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite saying if things werent going quite so right was HIHO Hang In and Hang On life is a roller coaster. He also enjoyed his motorcycle, old cars and playing guitar.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey; two daughters, Alice Rollins and Charlene Miller, both of Marinette; a brother, Harlan Richards of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Richard Gerbyshak.
Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home in Crivitz on Wednesday, April 24 from 8 a.m. until time of going to St. Mary Church for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
