Crystal Ann Gabriel
Crystal Ann Gabriel, 61, of Jefferson, Or. passed away April 17 after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 1, 1951 to the late Thomas and Lucille (Servais) Gabriel of Pound, she was currently a teacher at South Salem High School in Salem, Or. She dedicated 34 years of her life in the teaching profession.
She had a great passion for her courtyards of flowers, plants and trees and was always planting, transplanting, and doing projects to beautify her yard. She was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan.
Among survivors are her husband, Mike Helmken of Jefferson; two daughters, Caralee (Bob) Curl of Central Point, Or., and Jody Ray Helmken of Jefferson, Or.; and a special family friend, Abby Greene.
She is also survived by a brother, Roger (Theresa) Gabriel of Marinette; three sisters, Beverly (Jack) Ward of Yuma, Az., Donna Polzin of Peshtigo, and Kay (Howie) Schowalter of Shawano; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Gabriel and Sally Witak; plus nieces, nephews, relatives and other special friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom, Jr. and Clark; and two nephews, Larry Gabriel and Billy Schowalter.
She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
A memorial fund is being established for a scholarship in her name as Crystal Gabriel Scholarship, w/o South Salem High School, 1910 Church St. SE, Salem, Or. 97302.
A memorial service will be held in Coleman in her honor and will be announced at a later date.
