Algin Thomas Hendricksen, 93, of Stephenson, MI died on Thursday, May 2 at Bay Area Medical Center after a brief stay.
Born on Oct. 26, 1919 in Stephenson, MI to Alfred and Anna (Trosdahl) Hendricksen, he was raised on the family farm east of Stephenson in Palestine. He attended the Grant School and worked on his parents farm and later with his brother, Clifton. He then worked as a truck driver, Great Lakes boats man and Rustic Fence operator retiring in 1984. After moving off the family farm, he lived with and took care of his parents at their home on the highway in Stephenson.
The couple met in 1977 and were married in August of 1986 at Bethlehem Covenant Church. They moved to Menominee along the north shore of Green Bay. He enjoyed traveling with his wife by car and tour bus to the east and west. They spent 10 winters in their home in Florida. He was an active member of Bethlehem Covenant Church in Palestine his entire life.
Survivors include his stepson, Lowell (Bonnie) Nordgren of Escanaba, MI; sister in law, Eleanor Hendricksen of Stephenson, MI; step grandchildren, Todd (Rachel) Nordgren and Lisa (Randy) Hendricksen of Crowley, TX and Kelly Nordgren of Escanaba, MI; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Curtis during WWII and Clifton in 1998; and wife Myrtle in 2003.
Family and friends called at Bethlehem Covenant Church after 2 pm on Monday, May 6, until time of service at 4 pm. Pastor Andrew Stonina officiated and burial followed with Military Honors in the church cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
