Roger K. Schiefelbein, 78, of rural Columbia City, Ind, passed away on Thursday morning, May 2 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1934 in Shawano, son of William C. and Ruth M. (Thompson) Schiefelbein. He spent his formative years in Wisconsin where he graduated from high school and attended college.
A 25 year employee of Dana Weatherhead Division, he moved from Oklahoma City to Columbia City in 1982, and retired in 1996 as the assistant manager of the tool plant.
On July 1, 1984 he was married in Allen County, Ind. to Sue (McGunegill) Elder.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ken (Lisa) Schiefelbein of Columbia City, IN, John P. (Dee Alexander) Schiefelbein of South Whitley, IN and Jason E. Schiefelbein of Albion, IN; two step-daughters, Vickie Sue Bunn of Churubusco, IN and Dianna Elder of Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Daryl Newingham and Rickie Newingham, both of Dunbar, and Rodney Newingham of Iron Mountain, Mich; sisters, Jeannie (John) White of Wausaukee, Marleen Kuczala of Goodman, and Kathy (Joe Stoll) Newingham of Dunbar; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie White, and an infant sister.
Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. on Sunday, May 5 at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, IN with Rev. Brad Fredrickson, pastor of Tri Lakes Baptist Church, officiating.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 to 7 p. m., and one hour prior to the service Sunday afternoon.
