Track Regionals To Begin May 20
Regional track action in all three divisions will begin on Monday, May 20 with the sectionals on Thursday, May 23 and the state meet May 31-June 1. The first 4 finishers in each regional will advance to sectional competition. The top 3 sectional finishers in D-1 and the top 4 in D-2 and 3 will qualify for the WIAA state meet.
Four area schools will compete in the Division 2 regional at Freedom as Marinette, Oconto, Oconto Falls and Peshtigo join Bonduel, Clintonville, Freedom, Notre Dame and Seymour. Field events begin at 3pm with running starting at 3:45pm. The sectional meet will be held in Little Chute.
Six M-O Conference schools are scheduled to take part in the Suring Regional on May 20 and include Coleman, Crivitz, Florence, Gillett, Lena-STAA, Niagara, Suring, Three Lakes and Wabeno. Action begins at 4pm with competition slated for 4:45pm. The D-4 sectional will be held at Rosholt.
Last year the M-O Conference produced a pair of state champions as Peshtigo sprinter Brad Neumann claimed the D-2 100 meters in 10.88 while Crivitz pole vaulter Jake Wiedemeier soared 143 to win the gold in D-3.
One other TIMESland standout also came up victorious as Marinette senior Preston Perkins claimed D-2 pole vault honors at 14-feet.
