Nora E. Salewsky
Nora E. Salewsky, 85, of Wallace, MI passed away on Thursday, May 9 at her home surrounded by her family. The former Nora Ellen Buckley was born on June 3, 1927 in Chicago, IL. to the late AJ and Nora Sue (Brandon) Buckley. On Aug. 24, 1946 she married Lloyd C. Salewsky in Marinette. In the early years of their marriage, she enjoyed working alongside her husband on the family farm. She also worked as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph Lloyd Hospital in Menominee for five years and later worked as a parts inspector at L.E. Jones from 1972 until retiring in 1988.
She was an avid reader, owning a library of books and enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, baking and cooking. She further enjoyed traveling the country to visit family and also enjoyed the 10 years she and her husband spent wintering in Florida. Most importantly she loved her family and made it a point to be very active in their lives. She was a member of Community Covenant Church.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Lloyd of Wallace, MI; children, Lloyd John (Chloe) Salewsky, Lynda (David) Krozell, and Judy (Bob) Ackerman of Menominee, MI, Dale C. (Cindy) Salewsky of Howell, MI ; 7 grandsons; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Erma Kushman of Peshtigo.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, SSG Mark Daniel Ackerman; two sisters, Ida and Ada; and four brothers, Arnold, D. Benjamin, Aaron and Maron.
Family and friends called at Community Covenant Church, Menominee, MI on Monday, May 13 after 4 pm until time of Memorial Service at 6 p.m. Pastor Tom Lach officiated with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Anderson Kell Funeral Home, Menominee, MI assisted the family with arrangements.
Memorials in her name will be donated to the Aurora Healing Garden and the Community Covenant Church Perennial Garden.
