Friends called at Trinity Lutheran Church, Green Bay on Monday, June 10 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., for William W. Bill Schmitt, 68, of Green Bay.
Rev. Michael Baucom officiated and Blaney Funeral Home of Green Bay assisted the family. He died Monday, June 3.
Born Nov. 3, 1944 in Menominee to Emilie (Ellingson) and Walter Schmitt, he retired from Schneider National truck as a truck driver. He was a member of The Sons of Norway and a founding member of the Green Bay Chess Club. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he sang in the choir. He was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with his family and looked forward to annual hunting and fishing trips.
His three children survive. They are Matthew (Tamara) Schmitt, Kristen Schmitt and Emilie (Mark) Breuer. He is further survived by eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Richard (Bonnie) Schmitt; a sister, Carol (Mike) Buege and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and best friend, Delores Mathies.
