Friends called on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Brunos Church in Nadeau, for Agnes Elizabeth Folcik, 88, of Carney, Mi.
Fr. Michael Vichich officiated and burial followed in Nadeau Township Cemetery. A luncheon was held in the church parish hall. Allo Coolman Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Spalding assisted the family. She died on Wednesday, July 17 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Born on June 17, 1925 in Gourley Township, Mi., she graduated from Harris High School in 1942.
She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Carney. She enjoyed the outdoors, her vegetable and flower gardens and was an avid bird watcher throughout her life. She also liked playing cards and taught her grandchildren many games. In her retirement she spent many hours volunteering at Pinecrest before becoming a resident there in May of 2009. She was a member of St. Brunos Catholic Church in Nadeau and St. Annes Altar Society.
Surviving are six sons, Michael, Thomas (Peggy), Peter (Natalie) and John (Judy), all of Powers, Eugene (Donna) of Rapid River and Benedict of Albany, Ill.; two daughters, Christine Marana of Powers and Mary Jo (Dennis) DePas of Menominee; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Smiltneek of Wauwatosa and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Benedict and Anthony.
