Co. Coroner Responds to 422 Deaths in 2012
Marinette County Coroner George F. Smith detailed the 422 coroner cases in 2012 handled by the county. Of 230 males and 192 females, 387 died from natural causes. From accidents were 27, homicides 1, suicides 7, autopsies 21, MVAs 12.
Deaths caused by snow/ATVs numbered 2, drugs/alcohol 9, firearms 4, hospice 114 and they issued 165 death certificates, had 311 cremations and one disinterment.
Members of the coroners staff traveled 11,591 miles and cost was $39,030.
