Dorothy Marie Castonia
Dorothy Marie (Merkey) Castonia, 93, of Crivitz, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away on Saturday Aug. 3 at home surrounded by her husband and family.
Born on Nov. 27, 1919 in Berlin to the late Anna (Klick) and Reinhardt Merkey, she married Clarence Tony Castonia on May 27, 1951.
The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 27, 2013. She loved to bowl in her younger years and spent many hours embroidering countless items for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved going to the casino, playing 31 with her family and enjoyed old country music along with other varieties.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years Clarence Tony Castonia; four children Janice (Ralph) Clemins, Susan (Larry) Draeger, Patti (Greg) Strong and Thomas (Judy) Castonia; 10 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Judith Diane (Castonia) Manos; a sister, Adelyne Schultz and a brother Donald Merkey. Friends may call at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home in Crivitz from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 with funeral services following at the funeral home with Rev. Nick Johannes officiating. Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Athelstane.
