Hildegard E. Kasal
Hildegard E. Kasal, 95, passed away Monday, Aug. 5 at Menominee Care Center.
Born on May 7, 1918 in Green Bay at Bellin Hospital, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Stazhose) Priewe. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended Job Place School in Town of Grover where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class.
An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing for her family and also enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. She and her husband loved traveling to Florida as snowbirds where they sold Christmas trees and visited her sister, Erna and family. An active member of the Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, she was able to continue in sharing her seamstress capabilities and canning skills with the community. Her other interests included reading, writing and singing.
After school she worked in the surrounding Milwaukee area as a house keeper and on July 13, 1938 married Myron George Kasal in Milwaukee. During their 64 years of marriage she worked at Bay Area Medical, Peshtigo High School and managed the former Priewe family dairy farm all the while raising a happy and healthy family. She held the Lord close to her heart and attended service regularly at Zion Lutheran Church in Peshtigo.
Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn (Tom) Vanden Boogard and Marilyn (Mike) Hawley; two sons, Edward (Sandra) Kasal and John (Val) Kasal; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Myron; two daughters, Shirley Nyman and Patricia Strojny; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hertha (Bill) Dumpke, Erna (John) Stuart and Elfreda Fritz (Ormer) Harper and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Art (Essie) Priewe, Carl (Bea) Priewe and Erich (Edna) Priewe.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 at Zion Lutheran Church in Peshtigo from 2 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. Pastor Luke Myslik will officiate and a luncheon will follow after the service. Memorials may be directed to Hildegard Elise Margaret (Priewe) Kasal.
