Carolee (Kellogg) Ruhnke
Carolee (Kellogg) Ruhnke, 70, passed away at her home in Marshfield , on Aug. 15th following a brief battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 28, 1942 in Sheboygan to Arthur and Alicemae Kellogg, she attended Sheboygan South High School and Spencerian Business College. In 1966, she married Tom McCormick and they had three daughters, Deirdre, Sara and Cathy. Then on June 16, 1979, she married Doug Ruhnke.
She worked at the West Bend News, along with her husband and after moving to Marshfield in 1985, worked at the Marshfield News-Herald. In retirement, she continued to write her popular column, Friends and Neighbors, until illness forced her to stop.
She loved her grandchildren, people, a lively party, music, dancing, gardening, giving back to the community, volunteering to help Hispanic women learn English through the Literacy Council of Wood County and mentoring young children through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
She is survived by her husband Doug of 34 years; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deirdre McCormick and Jim Cole of Peshtigo, Sara McCormick and Walter (Scott) Bischoff of Marshfield and Cathy and Erik Nieman of Centreville, Va.; four grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Gayle Kellogg.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12 noon on Saturday, Aug. 24th at Rembs Funeral Home, 300 S. Oak Ave., Marshfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Ministry Health Care Hospice.
