Virginia M. Wiegers
Virginia M. Wiegers, 91, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday, Aug. 16th at her residence.
Born on Aug. 12, 1922 in Mackinac Island, Mi. to Clarence and Helen (Holden) La Chance, she married William A. Wiegers on Oct. 9, 1946 in Marinette. He preceeded her in death in 1983.
She attended Marquette University in Michigan and later was employed at Ray's Shoe Store and Orpha's, both of Mauston, retiring in 1983. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and many other crafts.
She is survived by two children, Susan (Clarence) Droste of Wisconsin Rapids and Kenneth (Sheryl) Wiegers of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and former daughter-in-law, Julie Wiegers of Kaukauna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; a son, Stephen Wiegers; her parents; a sister and three brothers.
Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids with Rev. John Steiner officiating. Burial took place at Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette.
Ritchay Funeral Home, in Wisconsin Rapids assisted the family.
