Winter Weather Delayed Party
Winter weather delayed the 87th birthday party of Mrs. Marvin (Regina) Brickner of Coleman which is Jan. 18. However, her children were determined to have one and the delayed party was held June 30.
Regina was unaware that a surprise birthday party was to be held June 30 at the home of her daughter and son-in law, Mr. and Mrs. John and Tina Fetterly of rural Pound. She was under the impression it was barbecue because another daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John (Cindy) Raiten and family were visiting from Sachse, Tex.
Her wish of many years had been to have all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at a reunion. The surprise birthday party made the wish come true.
When she arrived at the Fetterly residence with her husband, Marvin, she found the garage filled with family members all shouting Surprise and singing Happy Birthday. It took her few minutes to realize that the songs were for her and not someone else as she was greeted with hugs and kisses by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The event was filled with food, refreshments, sharing of laughs and memories and even a game of kickball. Some of the food was brought from Texas by Mr. and Mrs. John (Cindy) Raiten, a birthday cake made their daughter, Alison, assisted by sisters Tess and Jade.
Reginas sons and daughters attending the event were Rodney and (Karen) Zahn and Charles Zahn and her daughter, David (Ginger) Helm all of Reedsburg, and John (Cindy) Reiten of Sachse, Tex. and John (Tina) Fetterly of rural Pound. Also attending were grandchildren and great grandchildren.
