Capture Honors In Annual Hog Wrestling Fundraiser

Equity Cooperative Club hosted it’s 3rd annual Hog Wrestling event at Equity Park on August 10. A total of sixteen adult teams and six kids teams tried their luck at putting a muddy pig on a padded barrel, becoming extremely muddy themselves in the process. Over 500 spectators watched, cheering for humans and pigs.

The event kicked off with the playing of the National Anthem while members of the Kalbes-Seewald Post 280 American Legion provided the color guard. Numerous volunteers from the Club, as well as non-club members, provided the labor to operate the food and beverage concession stand, and be judges, gate keepers, announcers, music, time keepers, errand runners, and cooks. Club members also donated time, materials and equipment to create the wrestling arena. In addition, most of the teams were sponsored by local businesses.

Winners in the women’s division were first place and $100 in a time of 55.21 seconds to Let’s Get Oinky sponsored by Steiner’s BP/Norwex. Members of the team were Tiffany Dufek, Lizzy Nowak, Melissa Pleshek and Traci Polzin. Second place and $50 in a time of 75.46 seconds to Hog Hunters 3 sponsored by Lolli’s Pub. The team consisted of Deb Denzine, Bobbie Silkworth, Kirsten Schultz and Jessica Brissette.

Co-ed division winners were first place $100, time of 13.63 seconds Daisy Dukes sponsored by E&M Dairy Replacement. Members are Zac Kamps, Dan Pillath, Amber Rosenlund and Katie Woldt. Second place and $50 (18.5 seconds) to Pork Pullers sponsored by Tri-City Plumbing and made up of John Champeau, Kayln Champeau, Jon Perket and Britt Westbrook. Third place $25, (25.02 seconds) to Fuelle Painting & Sandblasting, sponsor also, and includes Scott Fuelle, Brandon Frank, Lynnlee Fuelle and Jordan Micheles.

Winners in the Men’s Division were first place $100 (15.37 seconds) to Hog Hunters I sponsored by Lolli’s Pub and consists of Jason Denzine, Chad Denzine, Dan Saunier and Bill Robinson. Second place $50 (17.33 seconds) to T&P Auto (sponsor also) with members Nick Gilbertson, Geoff Seefeldt, Tim Seefeldt and Keith Kinziger. Third place $25, (17.75 seconds) to Team Chicago and made up of Darrin, David and Kevin Jeziorski along with Keith Jundanian.

Kids Division winner was “The Pig Cousins” consisting of Ava, Jay, Emerson and Boston Jeziorski. Members from all the placing teams were awarded trophies.

A free Tug-of-War competition was held in the mud pit afterward.  Winning teams were “Power House” sponsored by Terry’s Last Stop and made up of Gary Demmith, Greg Demmith, Joe Wood, Doug Witak; “No Name” consisting of Britt Westbrook, John Champeau, Kaylyn Champeau and Jessica Brissette;  “Fuelle’s” includes Brandon Frank, Jordan Michaels, Scotty Fuelle and Lynnlee Fuelle; and “Team Winners” (kids)... Dennis Klaver, Brianna Haas, and Nick Vermeulen.

Two hog halves were raffled off during the day and winners were Steve Burger and Darrel VanDrisse. The glider love seat raffle went to Fred Kinziger.

Equity Cooperative Club Board of Directors thanks the many people that contributed to making this event a success. Funds raised continue to go toward improving the buildings and grounds at the Hall and Park. To date, a new septic system has been installed and the new women’s restroom is near completion.
