Walter A. Kass
Walter A. Kass, 87 of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Monday Sept. 2nd at the Menominee Care Center.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1925 in Menominee to the late Nicholas and Mary (Roehl) Kass. On July 11, 1951, he married the former LaVerne Johnson at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated his own farm in Birch Creek along with working at Lloyd Manufacturing and retired from Anchor Coupling in 1988. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where he ushered for many years.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne of Menominee; a son, Allen (Sharon) Kass of Menominee; two daughters, Debbie (Gil) Garcia of Menominee and Laurie Kass of Marquette, Mich.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Marcella (Fran) Tebo of Menominee.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti; three brothers, Nicholas, John and Clarence and a sister, Marion.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Kell Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 9, after 4 p.m. until time of Military Rites at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Ocran presiding. Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery.
