Unit 66 Auxiliary Chili Fest Sept. 28
A meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Athelstane/Silver Cliff Unit 66 took place on Saturday, Sept. 7th at the Silver Cliff Town Hall. The meeting was called to order by President Ann Wender and Secretary Karen Ladd and Treasurer Priscilla Maeder gave their respective reports which were accepted as read. Discussed was the Chili Fest slated for Sept. 28th at the Silver Cliff Memorial Park beginning at 11 a.m. Anyone wishing to volunteer or donate chili or baked goods for the event should contact Post Commander Bob Brusky or Wender.
The membership report was given by Lois Haase and Mary Wright received her five year membership pin. The $24 annual dues are now payable. There will be a drawing for one free year membership at the October meeting. A VA&R report was given by Darlene Corbeille. The number of in-house residents at the Iron Mountain Facility is decreasing as patients are sent to nursing homes closer to their hometown.
The donation that Unit 66 has given in the past to the facility will remain the same but will be allocated to other programs. A suggestion was the Butterfly Program which is similar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The next meeting of Unit 66 will be at 1 PM on Saturday, Oct. 5th, at the Silver Cliff Town Hall. The Ninth District Fall Conference hosted by Wabeno Unit 44 is Sept. 28th. The American Legion Auxiliary President Joyce Endries will speak. Contact Dee Farley for registration information.

Wisconsin lawmakers passed a bill with a 76-22 vote that would increase the maximum speed limit to 70 mph in approved areas. Do you agree that the speed limit should be increased?
